    ADA – When Dr. Kurt Edwards, an East Central University assistant professor of performance studies, arrived in Ada a couple of years ago he had a vision to host a theatre production in the picturesque Wintersmith Park Amphitheatre.

    He is happy to announce that dream is now becoming a reality.

    ECU and the community of Ada will come together to stage Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream on June 5-7 at 7:30 each night.

    The production is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted.

    ADA – Linzi Thompson is not the kind of person who kicks back with rest and relaxation during her breaks from pursuing an East Central University degree.

    Her passion for environmental health science leads to very little idle time for the junior from Sulphur.

    ADA – East Central University’s Veterans Upward Bound Program, through the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education and the state of Oklahoma, received free laptop computers for use with veterans and military-related individuals.

    A distribution ceremony was held on April 30 at the State Capitol with Maj. Gen. Rita Aragon as the keynote speaker.

    The Christina Foundation donated the computers to the state of Oklahoma, according to Amy Ewing-Holmstrom, CareerTech military transition coordinator.

    ADA – Major General Rita Aragon will be the keynote speaker as the East Central University Veterans Upward Bound Program staff hosts a Veterans and Military Appreciation Day on Thursday, May 15, in the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center on the ECU campus.

    The event is free and open to the public.

    Aragon, secretary for veterans and military affairs for the State of Oklahoma, will deliver her message shortly after 11 a.m.

    Senator Paddack

    ADA – A lifetime of struggles, setbacks, victories and stalemates are nothing new for State Sen. Susan Paddack.

    She’s battle-tested and analytical, intelligent and savvy and she was moved to tears May 2 when recalling she is the first in her family to be college educated.

    “You’ll have to pardon me if I become a little emotional,” the five-term political leader said choking back tears, “but I was the first person in my family to receive a college education.”
