    East Central University student McKenzie Hudson (right) was recently awarded the Wyatt F. and Mattie M. Jeltz Memorial Scholarship by Jeltz Scholarship Foundation Trustee Chairman James L. Mosley. McKenzie is a biology major with a kinesiology minor from Ada. Upon graduation from ECU, she plans to attend the physical therapy program at Langston University. This scholarship was established by an endowment and is incorporated by the State of Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs.

    Summer operational hours have been announced for East Central University, beginning Monday, June 6 and ending Friday, July 29.

    Office hours will be from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m.-noon each Friday. Additionally, the campus will be closed on Friday, May 27, and Monday, May 30, for the Memorial Day holiday weekend and Friday, July 1 and Monday, July 4, for the Independence Day holiday weekend.

    East Central University junior Elsa Colette Mosley was selected as a 2016 Russian Scholar Laureate, it was announced recently by the American Council of Teachers of Russian.

    Mosley is political science and studio art major, with a Russian studies minor, from Sulphur.

    She was nominated for the award by Dr. Mara Sukholutskaya, director of ECU’s Russian Studies and Global Education programs. Mosley is president of ECU’s Russian Club and was able to put her Russian language skills to work after going to St. Petersburg, Russia in May of 2015.

    East Central University’s Dr. Mara Sukholutskaya was awarded the prestigious “Excellence in the Teaching of Russian Language Award” at the recent Central Association of Russian Teachers of America (CARTA) Conference in Kansas City, Mo.

    Sukholutskaya was accompanied by 12 of her students, who were there to experience the academic conference - many for the first time - and to celebrate her receiving of the award.
