    A masked avenger will deliver an interactive lecture at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Ataloa Theatre of East Central University’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

    As a founding member of the Guerilla Girls, who goes by the name of “Frida Kahlo,” she is a famous artist, but no one will know who she is because she’ll be wearing a gorilla mask. She will discuss sexism, racism and corruption in politics, art, film and pop culture through facts, humor and outrageous visuals, according to the Guerilla Girls’ website.

    East Central University will host a public forum featuring an expert panel discussion and question and answer session on the environmental impact of fracking, a controversial method of drilling for natural gas, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19 in the ECU Foundation Hall of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.

    The forum will be preceded at 5:30 p.m. by a screening of the award-winning feature film “Promised Land,” directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Matt Damon, John Krasinski, and Frances McDormand.

    High school students, who wish to play like a Tiger, dress like a Tiger, eat like a Tiger and learn like a Tiger have an opportunity to experience that for one day on Wednesday, Nov. 19, during Tiger Connection at East Central University. Those attending Tiger Connection will receive a free lunch, free t-shirt and will be placed in a drawing for a $500 scholarship.     Santa comes to town and toys come to life as the ECU SHOWTIME production of “Babes in Toyland,” takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7-8, in the Dorothy Summers Theatre on the East Central University campus.     East Central University will screen the highly-acclaimed production of “Skylight” at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center.

    ECU SCREENS, in collaboration with Sigma Tau Delta and The Honors Student Association, is showing the recorded-live production of “Skylight” performed at the Royal National Theatre of London. Open to the public, the screening is $5 for students and $10 for members of the community.

    East Central University’s Honors Program is pleased to announce the publication of “ECU from A to Z,” a 35-page, hardback, full-color book that introduces readers to ECU’s campus and some of the many people who have brought it to life over the years. 

    The just-published book is on sale in the Honors Program office and online.

    Tori Bates (third from left) and James Brown (fourth from left) were crowned East Central University’s 2014 Homecoming Queen and King on Saturday, Oct. 25, at halftime of the Tigers’ football game with Southwestern Oklahoma State. Bates is a senior from Sulphur and actively involved in Chi Omega and holds a position on the executive board. Brown, a junior from Shawnee, represented the Business Leaders’ Association and is a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Brown is currently president of the ECU Marketing Club.

    Students interested in continuing their education at East Central University are invited to attend Transfer Enrollment Day on Wednesday, Nov.5, in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center in the Bill S. Cole University Center.

    All new transfer students are encouraged to take advantage of Transfer Enrollment Day. This day is the first opportunity for a transfer student to become acquainted with ECU.

    Students planning to attend must have been admitted to ECU prior to Nov. 5, 2014.
