    Bruce Bonar (center) accepts the 2014 Distinguished Family Award on behalf of the Bonar-Martin families from East Central University President John R. Hargrave during the ECU Foundation’s Evening of Honors and Recognition in May. The Bonar-Martin families’ history with ECU spans over 80 years and four generations as more than 25 members of the family have attended ECU.     ADA – The board of directors for the Accreditation Council for Business Schools Programs has granted East Central University’s Harland C. Stonecipher School of Business continued accreditation for 10 years.

    ADA - Learning how to help people resolve conflicts and move on with their lives can be very rewarding, according to a group of volunteers who do just that.

    Each year dozens of Oklahomans agree to give their time and energy to become a volunteer mediator through the Early Settlement Mediation Program. Garvin County is seeking additional volunteer mediators to assist with both community- and court-related disputes.

    ADA – Two East Central University professors – Dr. Christine Pappas and W.T. Skye Garcia – were recently recognized with DaVinci Fellow Awards, which honor higher education faculty whose accomplishments reflect creative and innovative approaches that have made a significant contribution to their academic discipline.

    Pappas is professor and coordinator for the ECU Department of Political Science and Legal Studies, and Garcia is an instructor of music.

    Pappas has a mission to rectify the problem of voter apathy by increasing civic engagement.

    An internationally renowned Native American artist, a noted historical performer, an award-winning Choctaw musician and the 2008 Dynamic Women of the Chickasaw Nation will visit East Central University Monday through Thursday [APRIL 7-10] for the annual campus series "On Oklahoma Ground: A Celebration of Native American History."

    ADA – East Central University President John R. Hargrave was named to the board of directors for the Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame.

    The Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame was founded by Distinguished ECU Alum and current OAAEHOF President Dr. Donnie Nero in 2010. The first induction class for the hall of fame was held in 2011.
