How did the Career Center assist you in your intern success story?
Todd Essary came to speak to Dr. Greenstreet's class my freshman year. I really didn't feel as if I really needed to do my resume right away. But I was wrong. An updated resume is so vital to your success. They were times when people would like to see my resume and I didn't have it available to give to them. Once I did start on my resume the Optimal Resume builder was great. It helped each step of the way and made suggestions I wouldn't have otherwise done. When I was studying at Georgetown I saw friends of mine getting frustrated with their resumes so I would show them how easy it was to use our product. They felt more confident going into an interview and handing over their accomplishments without a doubt. Having it made it possible for me to get my desired internship with the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers in Washington, D.C. and from there with The Shorstein Group out of San Francisco and from there the opportunity to work along the Clintons in the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City.

Johnathan with Madam Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Speaker of the House of Representatives)
What would you like to tell other ECU students about internship opportunities?
There is no better experience for a young college student or anyone who desires the experience in the particular field of choice. Some do an internship with a career or company they have always desired to be apart of and after the internship realizing they are not made for each other. In my case it was sort of success for me. I could have not been placed with anyone better. The opportunities have been endless for me. I was confused on what exactly I wanted to do after college and now I know.
What was your role following the Summer Internship at the Democratic National Convention?
I worked along side with Cindy Testa-McCullugh from the Shorstein group. We were ensuring all was working properly for VIP's for the DNC. It included major gatherings, fundraisers, parties, dinners, luncheons, etc...
What important contacts did you meet at the Convention?
George Steppanoplois (ABC News), Bob Schaeffer (CBS), Tom Brokaw (NBC) Senator Harry Reed (NV), Governor Bill Richardson (NM) former democrat presidential candidate, President Bill Clinton. Madam Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Speaker of the House of Representatives), Senator Hillary Rodam-Clinton and many other major political leaders.
