King of Ragtime: ECU Commemorates the Life of Scott Joplin

The event will celebrate the life and music of American composer Scott Joplin. Two acclaimed guest artists will be featured as well as various contributions from ECU faculty and students.

Scott Joplin, an African-American composer, was born in Texarkana, Texas, and launched his career from Sedalia, Missouri. He is considered one of the finest composers from the United States. Music, dance and history will be involved in this commemorative event.
