The Master of Education degree at East Central University offers educators and other professionals in-depth study in several specialization areas. Candidates can choose a program option that prepares them for a job in an education-related field. The program options include: Educational Leadership, Library Media, School Counseling, School Psychometry, Special Education, Sports Administration. Such selection shall be made at the time of admission to the graduate program since a change of option may result in the students having completed inapplicable work. Each program offers courses based on best practices in the field. Each program is designed to provide a research foundation from which candidates make informed decisions.

This program option is designed for working teachers who want to enter into higher-level administrative roles; the program emphasizes a combination of leadership theory and hands-on training that prepares you to become an effective decision-maker in education. Special attention is given to the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to become an effective school principal.

The graduate program option for Educational Leadership is designed for the graduate student specializing in administration for grades K-12. Special attention is given to the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to become an effective school principal. In order to complete this option, a student must hold and maintain a valid teaching certificate and must have completed two (2) years of successful public-school teaching.
