A Word From Our President
Dear Friend of East Central University,
East Central University has always been a place where potential becomes possibility.
As a first-generation college student, I know personally the life-changing impact
of an ECU education. This university opened doors for me that I never imagined possible,
and I remain committed to ensuring that today’s students have access to those same
opportunities.
Since its founding in 1909, on land generously donated by Dan Hays of the Chickasaw
Nation, ECU has transformed lives through education. That legacy continues today as
we prepare students from rural communities, Native nations, and families with no previous
college experience to become the leaders and professionals our state needs.
Through ECU Forward: A Capital Campaign for East Central University, we are building upon that proud history and creating a stronger future. The opening
of the Dan Hays STEM Center demonstrates what is possible when our alumni, donors,
and community partners share a vision for ECU’s future. Together, we are creating
opportunities that will benefit our students, strengthen Oklahoma’s workforce, and
serve our communities for generations.
