ADA, Okla. – Former East Central University professor and Dean Emeritus Dr. Bill Osborne will deliver a Book Talk discussing three book series he has authored Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. at ECU’s Linscheid Library.

Osborne will discuss “The Young Explorers Society Series,” “The Young Explorers Club Mystery Series,” and “The EVE Chronicles,” which total 13 books.

A graduate of ECU, Osborne earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1970 and his Master of Education in 1973. In 1987, he earned his Doctor of Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1987.

Beyond higher education, Osborne served as a naval aviator and as a public school teacher and administrator.

He returned to ECU in 1992, where he served as a professor in the Department of Education and later as Dean of the College of Education and Psychology until his retirement in 2011.

Following his retirement, Osborne relocated to the Norman area where he eventually discovered what would become his newest passion.

Using his family and friends as inspiration for his characters, and set to the backdrop of Oklahoma’s archaeological and historical mysteries and wonders, Osborne crafted “The Young Explorers Club Mystery Series.”

“The Young Explorers Club Mystery Series” follows two 12-year-olds, Finley and Ellie, and 10-year-old Dougie as they embark on adventures across Oklahoma, from ancient Native American sites to frontier settlements.

The six-book series leads into “The Young Explorers Society Series,” a four-book continuation following teenage versions of the same characters.

Osborne also authored the three-part science fiction series, “The EVE Chronicles,” which depicts a sweeping saga of humanity’s survival, space exploration and eventual return to Earth.

Osborne will be discussing each book series during the event, specifically the core themes and history, and inspirations that shape the stories and the character dynamics and motivations.

Copies of each book will be available at the event for $10 per copy, multiple payment options will be available.
