ADA, Okla. - East Central University’s (ECU) online Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Library Media has been recognized by Mastersinlibraryscience.org as one of the top-ranked programs of its kind in Oklahoma.
The program is fully online and designed for working educators seeking school library media specialist certification. It helps students develop skills to manage school libraries, support literacy development and integrate educational technology to enhance teaching effectiveness and student success.
The curriculum covers all aspects of school librarianship, including instructional media, children’s and young adult literature, multimedia technology, research techniques, instructional design, intellectual property, library administration and more.
Additionally, students are required to complete a 40-hour practicum to gain real-world experience and receive professional guidance from an experienced mentor in the field.
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to meet standards set by the American Association of School Librarians.
ECU Professor and Chair for the Department of Education, Dr. Shelli Sharber, has served as the Library Media Coordinator since 2012, playing a key role in shaping the program into what it is today.
