ADA, Okla. – The East Central University Tiger Esports team wrapped up the Spring 2026 semester with conference championships, national accolades and expanded community engagement opportunities.
Over the course of the semester, 58 students participated in 13 esports teams, taking part in several games, including, League of Legends, Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Fortnite, Valorant and Street Fighter 6.
Across all included games, students participated in 141 collegiate competition matches between four competitive conferences.
The team achieved third place for both Overwatch and Rocket League in the Spring 2026 Great American Conference (GAC) competition. ECU hosted the GAC championship for Esports on campus for the first time.
The Tigers also captured first place in the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Division Championship for D9 Overwatch and first in the NECC D9 Central-A Overwatch competition.
Beyond competition, the team continued to expand its presence across the region through numerous community engagement events, including high school visits, campus tours, campus events and summer camps. The program also supported three high school esports tournaments, including the OKSE Southeastern State Qualifier and the Scissortail State Championship. Esports was also featured at the university’s annual Interscholastic Meet for the first time.
ECU Tiger Esports student-athletes also demonstrated success in the classroom, completing 624 credit hours during the semester. Four members of the program graduated in Spring 2026, highlighting the team’s commitment to both competitive excellence and academic achievement.
