An Ada restaurant will sponsor a dinner Sept. 20 [TUESDAY] for the Guard Officer Leadership
Development (GOLD) Program at East Central University. Santa Fe Cattle Company will
provide a steak/chicken dinner with sides, salads, and drinks at 6:30 p.m. at the
Pontotoc County Agriplex.
The ECU GOLD Program is a military leadership training program co-sponsored by the
ECU School of Business and the Oklahoma Army National Guard. Successful completion
of the program leads to a commission in the Oklahoma Army National Guard.
The Ray Marshall Band will provide entertainment for the adults and the GOLD Program
soldiers will provide entertainment for children under 12. Several area businesses
have contributed items for a silent auction to be held during the dinner.
“Last year the Ada community and businesses helped us raise the funds we needed to
conduct quality leadership training,” said Capt. Kevin Roland, director of the GOLD
Program. “We hope to raise funds this year that will allow us to conduct study trips
to the Pea Ridge Civil War battlefield in Arkansas and participate in the Bataan Death
March Memorial Marathon in New Mexico.”
Cost for the dinner is $15 for adults and $10 for kids under 12. Tickets can be purchased
through Sept. 16 [FRIDAY] at Gem Jewelers, 101 W. Main, or by contacting Roland at
405-593-0769, 580-559-5822 or flokrol@ecok.edu.
