The Social Work Internship Program is an important part of the Social Work curriculum. Students have the opportunity to experience the "real world" of social work in an agency setting after their last semester of classroom coursework.
Students may complete their 448-hour block (one semester) or 448-hour split (two semesters; 224 hours per semester) internship placement in such settings as: a medical hospital, mental health agency, health department, rehabilitation agency, youth and family services agency, tribal agency, Oklahoma Department of Human Services, or a hospice program, among others. The Field Director helps facilitate these placements for students in keeping with their interests, needs, and availability of sites. The Internship Manual posted on this page will be helpful to prospective interns, current interns, and field supervisors.
