ECU ART - STUDIO ART CONCENTRATION
The Bachelor of Fine Arts with a studio concentration is the professional undergraduate degree in the visual arts. It prepares ECU students to make images in a wide variety of media but also focuses study on one of the traditional studio disciplines. Students with this degree are prepared for careers as gallery artists, studio sales, artists assistants, and for further study in graduate school. The students face rigorous studio training, with a focus on exhibiting their artwork at professional venues. Students choosing to major in Studio Arts have continued their study in M.F.A. programs or become professional artists. Graduates of the ECU Art Department have gone on to attend Carnegie-Mellon, Purdue University, University of Arkansas, University of South Carolina, and University of Oklahoma. These students were then able to obtain faculty positions at Stephen F. Austin University, Texas Tech University, and other higher education institutions. Others are gallery owners or studio artists. Two former ECU students have work in the prestigious New York Museum of Modern Art.
