ECU ART - TEACHER CERTIFICATION
The ECU Bachelor of Fine Arts with an Arts Education concentration prepares students for careers as Art Teachers with certificates to teach pre-kindergarten through grade 12. These students are prepared in a wide variety of media, but with an emphasis on utilizing their artistic skills to assist children to develop their artistic vision. Students are prepared in the aspects of producing art, critiquing art, art history, and aesthetics through a critical pedagogic philosophy. Students in this field are teaching throughout Oklahoma and Texas. In the last five years, four graduates were selected "teacher of the year" for their district the first year they taught. In 2004, the Da Vinci scholar - the state's most outstanding arts education graduate - was an ECU student.
