We’re excited you’ve decided to explore ECU’s Instrumental Music Program! Our talented and dedicated instrumental faculty are committed to enriching the human mind and spirit through performance, teaching, research, and creative excellence.

From large ensembles and chamber groups to solo recitals, our state-of-the-art concert hall and venues are alive with musical expression. We proudly present a diverse range of performances by students, faculty, and guest artists throughout the year—many of which are free and open to the public.

Instrumental Music Degree Options

Instrumental Concentration

  • Prepares students for careers such as:
  • Private Studio Instructor
  • Professional Musician
  • Accompanist
  • Composer / Arranger

Instrumental Teacher Certification Concentration

Leads to K–12 state certification for those planning to teach music in public schools.


Instrumental with Elective in Business Concentration

Ideal for students interested in the music industry. Career paths include:

  • Talent Agent
  • Concert Promoter
  • Music Business Consultant
  • Record Company Executive
  • Music Publisher
  • Tour Coordinator

This program combines a Bachelor of Science in Instrumental Music with a Minor in Business Administration for Music Majors.
