Auditions

Woodwind/Brass:

Students wanting to major or minor in music

• Two contrasting etudes (lyrical and technical)
• Major scales (examples: C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab) – Please be able to demonstrate at least two scales from memory
• Student will also sight-read at the audition
• Students wanting to participate as a non-major or minor within music
• Short etude demonstrating current ability
• Major scales (examples: C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab) – Please be able to demonstrate at least two scales from memory
• Student will also sight-read at the audition

Percussion:

Students wanting to major or minor in music

• Demonstrate ability on snare drum, keyboard instrument, and timpani
• Major scales (examples: C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab) – Please be able to demonstrate at least two scales from memory
• Student will also sight-read at the audition
• Students wanting to participate as a non-major or minor within music
• Demonstrate ability on snare drum or keyboard instrument
• Major scales (examples: C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab) – Please be able to demonstrate at least two scales from memory
• Student will also sight-read at the audition

*Students wanting to audition for the drumline will have to complete the needed auditions above to get into the Music Department. More information will be given out at your audition for the drumline audition process during the Spring semester.*

Piano:

Students wanting to major or minor in music

• 1-2 selections demonstrating student ability
• 2-3 scales demonstrating agility
• Student will also sight-read at the audition

Voice:

Students wanting to major or minor in music or participate in music

• 1-2 selections demonstrating ability
• Student will also sight-read at the audition
