ADA HIGH CLASS OF 1948 SCHOLARSHIP (Ada High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to an Ada High School senior who ranks closest to
“48th” in the graduating class and who plans to attend ECU. This scholarship was established
by Ada High School alumni from the 1948 graduating class. The recipient will be selected
by Ada High School administrators. Students must complete the General ECU Foundation
Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.

ADA HIGH CLASS OF 1970 SCHOLARSHIP (Ada High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to a student from Ada High School who plans to attend
ECU. This scholarship was established by Ada High School alumni from the 1970 graduating
class. The recipient will be selected by Ada High School administrators.
ADA HIGH CLASS OF 1975 - PAYING IT FORWARD SCHOLARSHIP (Ada High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to an Ada High School senior who will be attending
East Central University. The recipient will be selected by Ada High School administrators.
COLTON CALAWAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Ada High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to an Ada High School student who plans to attend
ECU. The recipient must have a 3.3 GPA or above at the time of their high school graduation. Preference
will be given based on the following: 1) financial need, 2) involvement with the Cougar
Tennis program, and 3) plans to major in Computer Programming. This scholarship was
established by friends and family of Colton Calaway a 2009 graduate of Ada High and
a former ECU student. Colton was an outstanding performer in the classroom and in
athletics, winning state runner-up in tennis his junior year. The recipient will be
selected by Ada High School administrators. Students must complete the General ECU
Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
FRANK AND JOHNNY STEPHENS DREW SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman from one of the smaller school
systems in Oklahoma (the size of Roff, Stonewall, or Vanoss, for example). This scholarship
was established by Slover Cape, an ECU alumnus who was raised by his aunt and uncle,
Frank and Johnny Drew. This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the Foundation's
Scholarship Committee. Students must complete the General ECU Foundation Scholarship
Application to be eligible for this award.
GIRLS GONE WINE SCHOLARSHIP (Broken Bow and/or Waurika High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to graduates of Broken Bow and/or Waurika High School.
Recipients must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and have a history of community and/or
civic involvement and service. Preference will be given to students that have overcome
personal/family hardships to continuing their education. Financial need will be a
prominent criterion. This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the Foundation's
Scholarship Committee. In 2008 while their friend and fellow wine girl and Broken
Bow school teacher, Shawn Hutchings, was battling breast cancer friends Chandra Rickey,
Michelle Finch (1986 ECU Alum) and Rhonda Reed, developed the wine, Friends 4 Life.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this wine was used to fund scholarships
for Hutchings children. After Shawn lost her battle with breast cancer the girls
decided to keep producing the wine to honor her passion for education by donating
proceeds each year for scholarships for students that have had to overcome personal
hardships to continue their education. Students must complete the General ECU Foundation

JEREMY HARREL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Pauls Valley High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to a Pauls Valley High School senior who plans to
attend ECU. Family and friends of Jeremy established this scholarship after his death
in a tragic automobile accident. The recipient will be selected by Jeremy's family. Students
must complete the General ECU Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for
this award.
EUGENE HENSLEY SCHOLARSHIP (Ada High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to an Ada High School student who plans to attend
ECU, and who exhibits good reading/English skills. The recipient will be selected
by Ada High School administrators. Students must complete the General ECU Foundation
Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
J. CHALMERS AND CHARLOTTE HERMAN SCHOLARSHIP (Ada High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to an Ada High School senior who plans to attend
ECU and is based on need. Dr. Herman was head of Foreign Language department for more
than 25 years and this scholarship was established in his honor after his retirement. Mrs.
Herman taught German and French part-time at ECU for several years. The recipient
will be selected by Ada High School administrators. Students must complete the General
ECU Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
MONTANA HOTEMA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Mill Creek High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to a Mill Creek High School senior who plans to attend
ECU immediately following graduation. The recipient must have a graduating GPA of
2.8 or above. This scholarship was funded by Tony Pacillo with the hope that everyone
can remember Montana for the good things he did, have fun doing what we love, and
inspire those in need to consider a college education. Montana Hotema, a natural-born
leader, athlete, scholar, and soldier, left a lasting impact on those around him.
Despite his achievements, he remained humble, always encouraging others to succeed.
Remembered for his sense of humor and welcoming nature, Montana believed in the potential
of everyone.
CODY NATHANIEL JOHNSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Pontotoc County)
This scholarship will be awarded to a Pontotoc County student who will be attending
ECU and has an interest in athletics. Cody was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident
in 2012, and his family, friends, and the “FIVE80” Riders established this scholarship
in his memory. The application for this scholarship is distributed by Cody's family
and the FIVE80 Riders.
KIWANIS CLUB OF ADA LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is for full-time students attending ECU as a first-time, incoming
Freshman with preference given to students that graduate from a Pontotoc County high
school in Oklahoma. The recipient must have graduated high school with a 3.0 GPA or
above and must maintain a 3.0 GPA or above to receive the spring portion of the award.
The recipient needs to show leadership abilities through school, civic and/or community
involvement. This scholarship can be used to provide assistance with books, tuition,
room and meals, as well as out of classroom experiences. The recipients will be chosen
by the ECU Foundation Scholarship Committee. Students must complete the General ECU
Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
LADONNE LATIMER SCHOLARSHIP (Ada High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to an Ada High School student who plans to attend
ECU with preference to a student from a single-parent home. The recipient must have
a minimum 3.0 GPA and minimum ACT score of 21. Mrs. Latimer worked at ECU for several
years and this scholarship was established in her memory by friends and family. Ongoing
donations are made to this scholarship by her sister, Beverley Bowen. The recipient
will be selected by Ada High School administrators.
LEADERSHIP MURRAY COUNTY CLASS XII SCHOLARSHIP (Davis/Sulphur/OSD high schools)
This scholarship will be awarded to incoming freshmen from Davis High School, Sulphur
High School, or the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, in Murray County. The recipient
must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or above, and attend ECU as a full-time
student the fall semester immediately following their high school graduation. This
scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the Foundation's Scholarship Committee. Students
must complete the General ECU Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for
this award.
CARROL MAXWELL SCHOLARSHIP (Konawa High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to students that graduated from Konawa High School
in Oklahoma. Preference will be given to those with a declared major with the Department
of Professional Programs in Human Services. Carrol Maxwell was a non-traditional East
Central University graduate in 1975. Her career spanned 6 decades on the ECU campus.
This scholarship was established in her honor by her family and friends. Students
must complete the General ECU Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for
this award.
CHARLIE MELTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Ada High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to an Ada High School student who will be attending
ECU. The recipient must have an ACT score of 23 or higher and a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The
recipient will be selected by Ada High School administrators. Students must complete
the General ECU Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
CARMELITA PAUL SCHOLARSHIP (Elmore City-Pernell High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to a student from Elmore City-Pernell High School
who will be attending ECU. Preference will be given to a Math major who has maintained
a minimum 3.0 GPA during the last two years of high school. This scholarship was established
by Harvey Dean in memory of his favorite math teacher. Students must complete the
General ECU Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
PUTERBAUGH MCALESTER SCHOLARSHIP (McAlester High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to a student from McAlester High School who is or
will be attending ECU. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients must
have a declared undergraduate major of Social Work, General Studies, Human Services
Counseling, Nursing, or a graduate major within Education or Human Services. This
scholarship was established by the Puterbaugh Foundation of McAlester. Students must
complete the General ECU Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for this
award.
ANGIE RAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Ada High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to an Ada High School student who plans to attend
ECU. Angie taught in the Ada School system for several years and this scholarship
was established by her family and friends in her memory. The recipient will be selected
by Ada High School administrators. Students must complete the General ECU Foundation
Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
CECIL AND SELMA GLADDEN SMITH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded preferably to Pontotoc County students who plan to
attend ECU, but can be awarded to students outside of Pontotoc County. The student
must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum ACT score of 22. The Smiths' son Kenneth
established this scholarship in his parents' memory for financial and academically
deserving students from Pontotoc County. This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion
of the Foundation's Scholarship Committee. Students must complete the General ECU
Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
NIKKI STONECIPHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Tupelo, Coalgate, or Wapanucka High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to an incoming Freshman from Tupelo, Coalgate, or
Wapanucka High School. This scholarship can be ongoing for eight semesters. This scholarship
was established by Harland and Shirley Stonecipher after the tragic deaths of their
son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter Nikki in an airplane accident. . Students
must complete the General ECU Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for
this award.
STONEWALL LONGHORNS SCHOLARSHIP (Stonewall High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to a freshman student from Stonewall High School
who will be attending ECU the fall semester immediately following their graduation. This
scholarship was established by former Stonewall Longhorns that became ECU Tigers and
want to help instill the value of higher education. Students must complete the General
ECU Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
JESS TEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP (Byng High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to a student from Byng High School who will be attending
ECU. This scholarship was established by friends and colleagues of long-time Byng
basketball coach Bertha Frank Teague after the death of her husband, Jess. The recipient
will be selected by Byng High School administrators. Students must complete the General
ECU Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
BERTHA THOMAS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP (Quinton, Poteau, Wewoka)
This scholarship will be awarded to students from the Quinton, Poteau, or Wewoka geographic
areas. The recipient must have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above and be a full-time
student at East Central University. This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion
of the Foundation's Scholarship Committee. Students must complete the General ECU
Foundation Scholarship Application to be eligible for this award.
JUSTIN AND MARGUERITE VOGT SCHOLARSHIP (Byng High School)
This scholarship is awarded to students from Byng High School who will be attending
ECU. This scholarship was established by the Vogt's in honor of Bertha Frank Teague,
Wayne Lillard, and Marvin Stokes. The recipient will be selected by Byng High School
administrators. Students must complete the General ECU Foundation Scholarship Application
to be eligible for this award.
JOE WEBER/JERRY RAPER ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP (Davis High School)
This scholarship will be awarded to a Davis High School student who will be attending
ECU. Coaches Weber and Raper were honored with this scholarship by Jay Horne, whose
son played football for Coach Weber. The recipient will be selected by Davis High
School administrators. Students must complete the General ECU Foundation Scholarship
Application to be eligible for this award.
