Frequently Asked Questions

  • I was told if I drop my class I will receive a “W” grade. What is a “W” grade?
    • A W stands for Course Withdrawal. It means that for whatever reason, that course hasn’t been going well and you are not able to complete it successfully this semester. Dropping with a W does not affect your GPA. Getting an F on your transcript does. When you drop a class, you need to see if it will take you below full time (12 credit hours) which could affect financial aid, scholarships, housing, athletics, and international status. Please check with the offices that apply to you before making your final decision.
    • To drop a class with a W, check your academic calendar to make sure the final date has not passed. Visit with your Professor and check with all necessary offices to be fully informed. If you decide that it is best to drop a course, log into Etrieve and click on forms. Scroll down to find the Drop/Withdrawal Form. Fill out all of the information for the course that you want to drop. Click submit. This form is processed by the records office. If you have any questions, please
      call 580-559-5236.
