The Graduate Writing Center

Welcome to the Graduate Writing Center!

The ECU Graduate Writing Center is a free resource available to all graduate students, online or in-person. We know that writing effectively is difficult, so we are prepared to help with all parts of the writing journey. The areas that we'll work with you in are as follows:

• Process – We will help you develop a systematized process to approach the task of writing with.

• Clarity – We will work with you to make your writing clearer.

• Focus – We will help you keep your writing relevant and on-point.

• Formatting & Citation – We will advise you on how to format and cite according to standards in your field.

• Concerns – We will address any other concerns you have with your writing. Our goal is to make you a more effective writer overall!

Note: We do not offer comprehensive proofreading services, but we provide extensive feedback and point out errors that will help you become more confident at revising.

How Our Process Works:

STEP 1. To request our services, please click this link! You will need to be logged in to your ECU account to submit the form.

STEP 2. Fill out the Request Form, providing an assignment sheet and whatever writing you have already completed.

STEP 3. Wait for a confirmation email from us that we have received your request and are now reviewing it. This should happen within 2 business days of sending the request. In the email, we will ask if you want to meet (either virtually or in-person) or want to correspond via email.

STEP 4. Wait for detailed feedback on your writing (sent via email) OR wait until your scheduled meeting time to receive feedback and correspondence.
