Job Summary:

The HR Generalist will provide support with employment recruitment, review and candidate testing, finding, hiring, and onboarding employees. The HR Generalist is a dedicated strategist that is expected to cultivate relationships with hiring managers through the full cycle recruitment process.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists hiring managers with listing job opportunities through the Applicant Tracking system.

• Maintains the Applicant Tracking system.

• Counsel applicants and the public on career opportunities at ECU.

• Explain the application and hiring procedures to hiring departments and/or applicants.

• Advise on recruitment and selection practices and requirements.

• Cultivate relationships with hiring managers through the full cycle recruitment process.

• Manage the entire recruitment/onboarding process through consultation with hiring managers as to meaningful job descriptions, ideal candidate attributes, best markets for talent mining, effective screening of responsive candidates, and interview planning to efficiently and successfully fill open positions.

• Analyzes job application materials to determine whether candidates meet minimum qualifications.

• Schedules and administers Zoom and on-campus interviews.

• Recruitment: develops recruitment announcements.

• Develop recruitment plans based on department needs and serves as the point of contact for all aspects of the recruitment life cycle from requisition creation to onboarding.

• Serve as the candidate point of contact beginning with initial inquiries through a comprehensive onboarding program to ensure an excellent candidate experience and smooth transition into the workplace.

• Serve as point of contact for university recruiting and onboarding functions with particular emphasis for creating a welcoming and equitable process by which all candidates are provided equal opportunity to showcase their talents and suitability for available positions.

• Contact candidates and schedule interviews.

• Present at job fairs and before groups.

• Ability to interact respectfully with people across diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

• Coordinates and facilitates register and hiring process.

• Manages recruiting for vacancies across departments and Colleges; may be focused on regular full time/part time or temporary positions.

• Monitor policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state labor and hiring laws.

• Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and communication skills.

• Self-motivated with exceptional organizational skills, strong detail orientation, and ability to manage multiple tasks, while maintaining accurate information, confidentiality, and productivity.

• Extensive understanding of human resource databases, applicant tracking systems, and candidate management systems.

• Processes New Hire Orientation/notifications.

• Answer all incoming phone calls/messages for the Employment Services Office.

• Answer all Employment Services emails.

• Assist the Benefit Coordinator with salaried employees timesheets/leave reports.

• Maintain and/or purchase office supplies.

• Assist with background checks.

• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.

• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community.

• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible

• Must be able to lift more than 20-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.

• Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.

• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner

• Other duties as assigned by Employment Services Director or designee.

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

Experience:

Experience in human resources, particularly with talent acquisition methods and related best practices. Demonstrated experience in a talent acquisition leadership role, preferably in higher education, managing the full recruitment to onboarding cycle. Experience and professional discipline knowledge in talent acquisition, recruiting, and staffing.

 

Skills:

Proficiency with Excel and/or other spreadsheet and database applications is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations as they pertain to hiring. Ability to represent the university well as the first point of contact with a potential candidate.

An Associate Degree in Business Administration. Accounting, or another related field.
