Games for children, free food and a donation drive for military troops serving overseas will be part of Family Day tailgate activities at East Central University on Saturday [SEPT. 27] before the football game between ECU and Northeastern State University.

The activities will be set up from noon to 2 p.m. on the lawn east of Kerr Activities Center, across from Norris Field. The football game will begin at 2 p.m.

A tailgate lunch of free barbecue sandwiches, chips and water will be served by members of ECU's Student Senate. Youngsters can make chalk drawings, fly kites, have their faces painted and play other games organized by the CREW, ECU's student programming board.

ECU's newly formed Collegiate Veterans Association will collect personal hygiene items such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, suntan lotion and insect repellant to send to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Cash donations also will be accepted.

For more information, contact ECU's Student Development Office at 580-559-5231.
