ECU Freshman Resident Scholarship Opportunities

At East Central University, we’re committed to making higher education affordable and accessible. Incoming freshmen who are Oklahoma residents have access to a variety of scholarship opportunities to help reduce the cost of attendance.

We offer support through:

• Merit- and need-based scholarships
• Student employment opportunities
• State and federal financial aid

Please Note:
Scholarship selection is a competitive process. Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee an award.

Deadline: Submit your completed application by February 1 for priority consideration.

Teacher’s Promise Scholarship

• Amount:
  • Up to $6,000 total
    ($750 per semester for up to 8 semesters)
• Eligibility:
  • Be the dependent of an Oklahoma public school teacher. Verification of employment must be provided directly to ECU by the teacher's employer.
  • Be a new ECU student, either as an incoming freshman or a first-time transfer student.

Honors Scholarship

• Amount
  • Tuition:$14,000
    ($1,750 x 8 semesters)
• Eligibility
  • 24+ on a national ACT, minimum
  • 3.5 GPA
  • Successful application with interview. Find the application here.

Financial Aid

• Financial Aid is available through:

  • Part-time Employment
• The type and amount of financial aid awarded are based on financial need, available funding, student classification, and academic performance.

Scholarship Details

• All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the upcoming academic year.
• Tuition and room waivers do not cover fees or meal plans.
• Scholarships are not awarded automatically and are subject to the availability of funds.
• To be considered for Freshman, Transfer, and Foundation Scholarships, submit your scholarship application by February 1.
• Students selected to receive a scholarship will be notified by mail and will receive an award letter and scholarship agreement. Both must be completed and returned to accept the award.
• Meeting the eligibility requirements for a scholarship does not guarantee that you will receive an award. Because scholarship funding is limited and applications are highly competitive, not all qualified applicants will be selected.
