For rising 8th and 9th Graders

Have you ever wondered how bread rises, your body relaxes, or how sunscreen protects you from the sun? The answer is chemistry! Learn more about the fascinating world of molecules and chemistry at East Central University’s the Molecules of Nature summer academy. This residential camp is designed for 8th and 9th graders and will be held on ECU’s campus in Ada from June 2 to June 7, 2024. Through hands-on exploration, students will synthesize molecules that are important in fields such as medicine, food processing and agriculture. Students will be immersed in the college experience, gaining knowledge of high-tech laboratory equipment and safety. Participants will also enjoy field trips to the Robert S. Kerr Environmental Research Center and the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Participants will leave the camp understanding how to pursue numerous STEM degrees.
