ADA, Okla. – East Central University is set to host summer STEM academies on campus this summer.

Molecules of Nature, a six-day residential camp designed for Oklahoma students grades 8-9 will take place, June 2-7.

Molecules of Nature Summer STEM Academy will offer students the opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of molecules and chemistry. Through hands-on exploration, students will synthesize molecules that are important in fields such as medicine, food processing and agriculture.  

Students will be immersed in the college experience, gaining knowledge of high-tech laboratory equipment and safety. Students will also visit the Chickasaw National Recreation Area and leave the camp understanding how to pursue numerous STEM degrees.

The Human Water Cycle, a four-day commuter academy for 20 Oklahoma students grades 9-12 will take place, June 24-27. 

The Human Water Cycle Summer STEM Academy will explore the natural water cycle and human tributary. This will include visiting water sources and treatment plants, learning from industry experts, collecting water samples, conducting wet labs, flying drones, and tackling real-world water challenges.

Students will have the chance to explore where their water comes from, who handles it, how it gets to their homes, and what happens when it is flushed away.
