The ECU Writing Center is a free resource available to all undergraduate students. Our consultants-high-achieving undergraduate peers—assist with every stage of the writing process:

  • Getting started – Generate and organize ideas

  • Revising drafts – Receive feedback on structure, clarity, and content

  • Final touches – Learn how to correct grammar, punctuation, and citation errors

While our consultants do not proofread papers, they will help you identify patterns of error and teach you how to revise effectively. The goal of the Writing Center is to help you become a stronger, more confident writer—not just to improve a single paper.

Note: Services are intended for undergraduate students. Graduate students should consult with their advisor or professor for writing support.

What to Expect During a Visit

A typical Writing Center session lasts 20–30 minutes. To make the most of your visit, bring the assignment instructions from your professor. If you have a draft, the consultant will review it while you complete a brief information form.

The session will focus on your specific concerns. You’ll receive helpful feedback, suggestions, and strategies to strengthen your writing. At the end of your visit, you'll be asked to complete a short survey about your experience.

Location: Administration Building, Room 260
Walk-ins welcome or schedule an appointment.

Can’t visit in person? You may submit your draft via email. Be sure to complete the online submission form below so we have all the information we need to provide feedback.

Email Submissions

We check our account daily, Monday through Friday. Most email responses are returned within 48 hours; however, response times may be longer during peak periods.
