Esports Code of Conduct
Representing More Than Ourselves
"We represent ourselves, we represent our team, we represent our program, we represent our school, we represent our community, we represent our state, we represent our country. We must act like we represent something larger than ourselves."
— Cody Soden, Esports Director
"Participation in intercollegiate athletics at East Central University is a privilege and a unique opportunity. Privilege means that student‐athletes are held by both the University and community to higher expectations and a stricter code of conduct than the other University students who do not participate in athletics."
— ECU Athletics Code of Conduct
"All competitors are held to elevated standards of conduct, as they serve as role models for the broader playerbase."
— Riot Games, Collegiate League of Legends Code of Conduct
ECU Esports Code of Conduct
Competing in Esports at East Central University is a privilege that follows the mindset and policies of traditional athletics. ECU Esports athletes are held to higher standards because they represent more than just themselves—they represent:
- The ECU Esports program
- The university
- The Ada community
- The state of Oklahoma
- The U.S. collegiate esports community
Our players also influence and inspire younger gamers, engaging with students as early as middle school. This means conduct matters, in competition, in practice, and online.
All ECU Esports athletes must follow:
- The ECU Student Code of Conduct – applies to all ECU students
- The ECU Student-Athlete Handbook – applies to all ECU athletes
- The NECC Code of Conduct – for National Esports Collegiate Conference competitors
