Asbestos and Blood-Borne Pathogens
Asbestos Safety Information
East Central University is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all students, employees, and visitors. In compliance with federal regulations (Federal Register Volume 59, No. 153, August 1994), we notify all personnel of the presence, location, and quantity of any Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM) on campus.
ECU has completed extensive asbestos abatement efforts, successfully removing ACM from many campus areas frequently accessed by students and employees.
Bloodborne Pathogens
ECU has implemented an Exposure Control Plan in alignment with OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard to safeguard employee health. The plan is designed to:
- Protect employees from health risks associated with bloodborne pathogens
- Ensure access to appropriate treatment and counseling if exposure occurs
-
Provide training to at-risk employees on proper handling and procedures
In the event of a body fluid spill:
- Secure the area immediately
- Contact the building custodian for cleanup
-
If a custodian is unavailable, call Campus Police at 580-559-5555
