Assistant Professor of History

 

Position:

Department of History at East Central University seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track position in United States history at the Assistant Professor Level (commensurate with qualifications). Starting date is August 2024.

At East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, we commit to educating and empowering students to understand and transform our world. ECU is a state regional university offering thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts, business, education, mathematics, sciences, nursing, human services, humanities, and the social sciences; and six master's degrees in accounting, education, counseling, psychology, management, and water resources. ECU's 3,200 students come from 35 countries and 22 different states.

 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will teach courses in United States history, including but not limited to regional histories of the American South or West, in addition to teaching both halves of the United States history survey. Candidates with expertise in public history and those with the ability to teach women’s history or a non-United States field will also receive special consideration. The standard teaching load is a 4/4.

Other responsibilities include: advising, serving the university and community, and maintaining an active research agenda. The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is committed to student engagement, equity, diversity and inclusiveness.

 

Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in in history. ABD’s considered.
