3rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration:

 

11:00: MARCH. Meet at the ECU Centennial Plaza to reenact the 1963 March on Washington.  Bring Civil Rights signs and be prepared to sing “We Shall Overcome” with the ECU Gospel Choir as we march the campus.

11:30-12:15: PROGRAM. The March will end in the Ataloa Theater of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.  Local blues legend Ray Davis will headline a program which also features the ECU Gospel Choir, comments by Dr. Lorraine Latimore, a rendition of King’s famous “I Have A Dream” speech by members of the Tiger Speech and Debate team, and presentation of the Spirit of MLK Award and the MLK Essay Award.  Members of Brothers and Sisters United will be ushers.

This event is free and open to the public.  It is sponsored by the Human Diversity Committee.
