George Nigh Award
George Nigh Award
The George Nigh Award is presented annually to the most distinguished graduating student
at East Central University. The recipient is selected based on academic achievement,
moral character, and the promise of future service to the state and nation. The award
also commemorates the distinguished undergraduate career and subsequent public service
of the Oklahoman for whom it is named. Established in 1980 by Julian J. Rothbaum,
the George Nigh Award recognizes excellence, leadership, and a commitment to serving
others.
2026 Recipient
Charlie Rogers was presented the George Nigh Award by ECU’s Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Jeffrey Gibson, at East Central University’s Spring 2026 Commencement Ceremony.
