Welcome to ECU!

Beginning freshmen are invited to attend a Tiger Enrollment Day event to get their student ID, learn about exciting opportunities at ECU and plan their courses with an advisor. Students who need an ACCUPLACER test for course placement can also take the test at Tiger Enrollment Day. Beginning freshmen will receive sign-up information through the e-mail used on the ECU application.

Our first Tiger Enrollment Days were held during April, and Tiger Enrollment Days continue through August, with events scheduled for May 4, May 17, May 22 and June 3. Additional dates will also be announced. Incoming freshmen should check their admissions portal or contact Admissions at 580-559-5626 for more information.

Students who do not have a 19 or higher on the ACT in math and science have the option to either enroll in zero-level courses or successfully complete the ACCUPLACER exam in those subject areas. Beginning freshmen who do not have a 19 or higher in English and Reading on the ACT, and who also do not have a 3.0 high school GPA or “B” or higher in senior high school English have the option to either enroll in zero-level courses or successfully complete the ACCUPLACER exam in those subject areas. (A score of 510 in a subject area on the SAT is equivalent to a score of 19 in an ACT subject area).

We offer one ACCUPLACER testing session to all students free of charge, so we encourage students to test for any areas where they do not meet the ACT criteria during that testing session. Students can retake the ACCUPLACER one time, at least 30 days after the first test attempt, for a $15 retest fee (paid to the ECU Bursar). There is a maximum of two testing sessions per student. Please contact us at 580-559-5696 to schedule the ACCUPLACER exam.
