All scholarships require full-time attendance (12 hours for undergraduate; 6 hours for graduate) unless indicated otherwise.
All scholarships require a 3.0 cumulative GPA unless indicated otherwise.
All scholarships are for fall and/or spring semester only (summer not included) unless indicated otherwise.
All recipients are recommended by the department, with final approval by the ECU Foundation Scholarship Committee.
Any exceptions must be approved by the department chair and the Foundation Scholarship Committee.


CHARLES AND LILA ACKER MATH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding student majoring in Math as selected by ECU's Math faculty members and department chair. Charles and Lila Acker, both ECU graduates and Math majors, have established this scholarship to encourage students who are planning to major in Math. 

E.O. BOX MATH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to the senior Mathematics major who has maintained the highest GPA over the course of his/her college career. This fund was established by Mr. Box’s wife, Emma, in his memory.

BRILES SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded based on need and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Originally established as part of the Federal Student Loan Program, this scholarship was transferred to the ECU Foundation in 1995.

DR. JAMES O. DANLEY MATH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the Math faculty members and department chair. This scholarship was established by the friends and family of Dr. Danley, who was a former faculty member in the then ECU Math department and who also served as department chair and was the first graduate dean at ECU.

DCT COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be available to all students in the College of Health and Sciences, with priority given to students pursuing a master’s degree in a discipline housed in the College of Health and Sciences at the time of the award. Recipient must maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA and be classified as a junior or above. To receive this scholarship, applicants must provide a plan for a community service project (preferably a project that benefits the Ada community) that will be completed during their junior year, and that is verified by a mentoring faculty member. Preference will be given to students providing evidence of community service during their freshman/sophomore year(s). For the scholarship to be renewed during the students’ senior year, they must complete a community service project in collaboration with mentoring a faculty member during their junior year or the student must have presented the activities and results of one of their previous community service projects at a state, regional, national, or international conference during their junior year and provide an acceptable update for the current service project.

LANCE FENTON MATH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the Math faculty members and department chair. This fund was established by ECU alumnus Brad Fenton in honor of his son Lance.

HIGGINBOTHAM FAMILY MATH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior Math major who demonstrates a potential to earn an advanced degree in mathematics. Dorothy Higginbotham was an ECU alumna who understood and recognized the value of higher education and established this scholarship as part of her estate planning.

KATE KNIGHT MATH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding Mathematics major. Knight Hall on the ECU campus was named after Ms. Knight.

VICTOR & MARY NEAL 1950’s SCIENCE FUND (also awarded to Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
This scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior Math student who has maintained a minimum 2.75 GPA. Preference will be given to students who do not qualify for significant federal financial aid. This scholarship was established by an anonymous ECU alumnus who attended medical school and had a lengthy career in the medical field.

RANDALL AND SHIRLEY POGUE MATH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior Math major who has maintained a minimum 3.25 GPA. Mrs. Pogue is an ECU graduate with a degree in Math who also obtained a pharmacy degree. She and her husband Randall are long-time residents of Ada and they established this scholarship to reward excellence in Math.

ESSIE ROARK COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be available to all students in the College of Health and Sciences, with priority given to students pursuing a master’s degree in a discipline housed in the College of Health and Sciences at the time of the award. Recipient must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA and be classified as a junior or above. To receive this scholarship, applicants must provide a plan for a research project that will be completed during their junior year and that is verified by a mentoring faculty member. Preference will be given to students providing evidence of research with mentoring faculty during their freshman/sophomore year(s). PAULA RUTLEDGE MATH EDUCATION (SECONDARY) SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to a secondary Math education major who has maintained a minimum 3.25 GPA. Special consideration will be given to female students who exhibit financial need. This scholarship was established by Dr. Carl Rutledge in memory of his wife Paula, who was a math teacher at both the secondary and university levels.

C. GENE STEPHENSON MATH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to Math majors classified at the junior level or above.  Recipients must have and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and this scholarship may be awarded for subsequent semesters as long as all criteria is met. This scholarship was established by Dr. C. Gene and Lynda Adkins Stephenson.  Dr. Stephenson started his career in education as a mathematics teacher and football/basketball coach at Shamrock, TX.  He joined the East Central mathematics faculty in 1965.  In his 25 years at East Central, he served 5 years as Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Arts & Sciences and 10 years as Vice President of Academic Affairs.  In 1990, he retired from East Central and assumed the Presidency at the University of the Ozarks, Clarksville, AR.  

DARRELL TERRELL MATH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to freshman and sophomore Math majors at the discretion of the department. This scholarship was established in honor of Darrell Terrell, long-time faculty member in the then ECU Math department.

DR. DENNIS AND ELSIE WILLIAMS MATH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the department. Dr. Williams was a long-time faculty member at ECU and this scholarship was established in his honor and memory.
