ECU HUMAN RESOURCES STUDENTS HONORED FOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Students in the counseling, criminal justice and social work programs at East Central University have received awards and scholarships during a centennial awards and recognitions program hosted by the Human Resources Department.

LONG-TIME ECU PROFESSOR RETIRES

The chair of East Central University's Department of Nursing has retired after 28 years of teaching, publishing eight books and about 100 journal and Internet articles and writing or co-writing grants which have brought more than $4 million to the university.

HORACE MANN SOCIETY'S SCHOLARSHIP HONORS MEMORY OF SCHOOL

The Horace Mann Training School once operated by East Central University seems to have a special place in the hearts of its former students.

For 40 years, the combined elementary, junior high and high school had a twofold mission: educating its younger students in a regular school setting while serving as a "laboratory" for ECU students studying to become teachers themselves.

BUSINESS, ACCOUNTING STUDENTS WIN AWARDS, SCHOLARSHIPS AT ECU

Outstanding graduates were announced and scholarships were presented to students at the East Central University School of Business Awards Banquet, "A Night to Shine."

REGENTS APPROVE $55.6 MILLION BUDGET FOR ECU FOR 2009-10

A $55.6 million budget has been approved for East Central University for the 2009-10 academic year that begins July 1.

Dr. Duane C. Anderson, the university's interim president, said the budget includes $36,417,170 for general academic and administration activities and a projected grants and contracts budget of $19,137,466.

ECU PLANS MEETING ABOUT EARNING SOCIAL WORK DEGREE

An informational meeting for persons interested in pursuing the bachelor of social work degree from East Central University is set for July 7 [TUESDAY] at 5:30 p.m. at the Eastern Oklahoma State College McAlester campus. The program offers special opportunities for students interested in working in child welfare or with older adults.

School is out and summer has begun. Too often this means parents are left wondering what to do for their children for the summer months. The Child Care Resource & Referral Agency at East Central University would like to recommend parents use the following steps to choosing summer child care:

Ada students in East Central University's Department of Education have received honors and scholarships for their academic achievements.

Outstanding Student Teacher awards went to Amy Wight in early childhood education, Dana Nemecek in mathematics education and Rachel McCready in English. Lucas Cane received an award for Outstanding Secondary Social Studies Teacher Intern for Spring 2009.

ECU STUDENT, SBDC CLIENT, DEMONSTRATES PROTOTYPE

An East Central University student and his associates demonstrated an early prototype of their SST (Simple Secure Tunnel) device in the OpenBeta2 un-conference for Internet professionals, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts recently in Oklahoma City.
