MARRIAGE PROPOSAL DURING CENTENNIAL SHOW SURPRISES PERFORMER

Audience members got a surprise at East Central University's Centennial show in the new Ataloa Theatre Friday night [SEPT. 25], but they weren't nearly as surprised as student Phoebe Price of Ardmore.

ECU BEGINNING INTENSIVE SELF-STUDY FOR REACCREDITATION

An intensive self-study of East Central University is about to get underway as part of the requirements for the institution's reaccreditation process, a rigorous evaluation that ascertains whether a university continues to be able to fulfill its purpose.

ECU OFFERING GRANT PROPOSAL WRITING WORKSHOP

Registration is still open for a one-day grant writing workshop next week at East Central University. The Fundamentals of Grant Proposal Writing will be offered either Oct. 5 [MONDAY] or Oct. 6 [TUESDAY]. The program will be the same each day.

The cost is $147 per person. The instructor, Robert Bradley, has conducted workshops for state and national conferences, government agencies, non-profit organizations and universities.

GUEST CELLIST, PIANIST PERFORMING OCT. 4 AT ECU

Cellist Diane Bucchianeri and pianist Stuart Deaver will play sonatas by Beethoven and Rachmaninov Oct. 4 [SUNDAY] at East Central University.

They will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center. Admission is free.

HUDSON SHARES INFORMATION ABOUT PROJECT INVEST AT CONFERENCE

Crystal Hudson, outreach specialist for the Child Care Resource & Referral Agency at East Central University, was part of a panel discussion at a conference Sept. 17-18 in Scottsdale, Ariz.

ECU CLARINET RECITAL FEATURING BENNY GOODMAN'S MUSIC

A recital of clarinet music dedicated to East Central University's Centennial, as well as the centennial of the birth of the famous clarinetist Benny Goodman, will be performed Monday [SEPT. 28] by Dr. Mark Hollingsworth, chair of ECU's Music Department.

The recital is free and will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

PHYLLIS KUNZE NAMED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ECU FOUNDATION INC.

Phyllis Danley Kunze, long-time CEO of the East Central Credit Union in Ada, has been named executive director of the East Central University Foundation Inc.

ECU OFFERING GRANT PROPOSAL WRITING WORKSHOP

A one-day grant writing workshop will be held twice in October at East Central University in Ada.

Participants can choose either Oct. 5 [MONDAY] or Oct. 6 [TUESDAY] to learn how to write winning proposals in the Fundamentals of Grant Proposal Writing workshop. The program will be the same each day.

HALLIE BROWN FORD FINE ARTS CENTER TO BE DEDICATED FRIDAY

The Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center at East Central University will be dedicated at 4 p.m. Friday [SEPT. 25] in a ceremony in the center's Ataloa Theatre.

VIEWING OF MOON, JUPITER SET SEPT. 22 AT ECU OBSERVATORY

The next astronomy viewing with telescopes will be Tuesday [SEPT. 22] at East Central University. The public can view the moon and Jupiter from 8 to 8:30 p.m. at the ECU Observatory.

Viewers should park in the Physical Plant parking lot northeast of the football stadium and walk 100 feet up a hill to the observatory. The viewing will be cancelled if it is cloudy or raining.
