BRANDON WHITTEN INSTITUTE AT ECU HELPING IN FIGHT AGAINST SUBSTANCE ABUSE, ADDICTIONS

The Brandon Whitten Institute for Addiction & Recovery officially opened at East Central University Friday [MAY 27] with a ribbon cutting by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce. ECU STUDENTS CAN CARPOOL THIS SUMMER; CLASSES BEGIN JUNE 1

Summer school starts June 1 [WEDNESDAY] at East Central University with a carpooling program to help cut transportation costs for students, staff and faculty who live outside Ada.           

“Gas prices are high,” said ECU President John Hargrave, “but we don’t want that to keep anyone from coming to school this summer. We’re happy to offer this program because it could save students money.”           

ENROLLMENT OPEN FOR WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP AT ECU

Enrollment is now open for master artist Nel Dorn Byrd’s watercolor workshop Aug. 3-5 at East Central University. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.           

ECU OFFERING 39 SUMMER CLASSES TO AREA AT AHEC

Courses in education, psychology, library media specialist, human resources, nursing and university studies will be offered by East Central University again this summer at the Ardmore Higher Education Center. ECU faculty will teach a total of 39 graduate and undergraduate courses.

NOTED ARTIST TEACHING OIL, PASTEL PAINTING WORKSHOP MAY 23-27 AT EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

An award-winning Texas artist who is a major force in the field of oil and pastel painting will teach a five-day workshop May 23-27 [MONDAY-FRIDAY] at East Central University. It is the first of three workshops to be taught this summer by noted artists.

ECU SUMMER COMMUNITY BAND BEGINS MAY 16

Dr. Allen Correll, band director at East Central University, is organizing and conducting a community band again this summer.           

“We had a great response and a great time last summer,” Correll said. “Many of the former wind and percussion students in the Ada area came back to play in the summer band. We hope they will join us again, along with more adults and current high school or college band students.
