ECU TO BE WELL REPRESENTED AT ‘MOMENTUM’ ART EXHIBITION

ADA – East Central University will be well represented as ‘Momentum’, a semi-annual art exhibition sponsored by the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, will be held on March 7-10 at the Oklahoma City Farmers Public Market.

‘Momentum’ exhibits Oklahoma artists, ages 30 and under, in a venue created specifically for them, helping them gain experience and meet new audiences.

TUSKEGEE AIRMAN COL. CHARLES McGEE TO DELIVER ECU’S SIXTH ANNUAL LOUISE YOUNG DIVERSITY LECTURE ON MARCH 11

ADA – Col. Charles McGee, one of the first African American aviators in the U.S. Armed Forces, will deliver East Central University’s Sixth Annual Louise Young Diversity Lecture on Tuesday, March 11, at 7 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre of ECU’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

The lecture is free and open to the public. A book signing will follow the lecture.

AQUILA THEATRE COMPANY BRINGS LITERARY CLASSIC FAHRENHEIT 451 TO LIFE AT ECU’S ATALOA THEATRE

ADA - One of the most revered novels of the 20th century, Fahrenheit 451, will be brought to life by the Aquila Theatre Company on the Ataloa Stage, at East Central University’s Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center on March 6, 2014.

Tickets are $18 and may be purchased online at tickets.ecok.edu or at the box office the night of the show.

ECU MUSIC DEPARTMENT TO PRESENT SYMPHONIC BAND, WIND ENSEMBLE CONCERT ON FEB. 27

ADA – East Central University’s Department of Music will present the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble Concert on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ataloa Theatre inside the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

Dr. Allen Correll is the conductor for the concert, which is free and open to the public and Dr. Ben Finley will serve as assistant conductor.

ECU ALUM JOHNSON NAMED BOARD CHAIR OF NASBA

ADA – East Central University alumnus Carlos E. Johnson has been named the new board chair for the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), it was recently announced in Nashville, Tenn.

Johnson is a 1964 ECU graduate and has served on the ECU Foundation’s Board of Trustees for a number of years.  He also taught at the University of Oklahoma and at Oklahoma State University, where he received his master’s and doctorate degrees.

He held the dean’s position in the ECU School of Business from 1970-73.

THIRD ANNUAL OBW CAMP SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 1-6 AT ECU

ADA – Students in the ninth through 12th grades, who have the desire to experience how the business world operates, can do so through the Third Annual Oklahoma Business Week at East Central University, June 1-6, 2014.

The two-time award winning Oklahoma Business Week camp has participants divided into teams. Led by a volunteer mentor from the Oklahoma business community, the teams each develop a ‘company’ to learn about business practices and compete with other teams (or companies) in simulated business challenges.

KELLOGG & SOVEREIGN CONSULTING LLC PROVIDES FINANCIAL LAB FOR ECU’S NEW HARLAND C. STONECIPHER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

ADA – A real world experience for East Central University business students is being provided at the new Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.

Thanks to a generous donation from Kellogg & Sovereign Consulting, LLC, students get a true hands-on experience in the business world with a financial lab/technology classroom in the new Harland C. Stonecipher School of Business, located on the second floor of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center on the ECU campus.

AROUND THE WORLD WITH ROTARACT SILENT AUCTION

ECU Rotaract Club is hosting an “Around the World with Rotaract” International Silent Auction on Tuesday, Feb. 25th in the University Center, 2pm to 7pm. Dozens of handmade and local crafts collected from around the world will be offered for auction. A few of the countries included are:

Vietnam
South Korea

ECU’S SUTER HAS ULTIMATE INTEREST IN TEAM USA HOCKEY AT WINTER OLYMPICS

ADA – Please forgive Sarah Suter if she is overly excited about Team USA’s quest for a men’s hockey gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR 2014-15 ECU SCHOLARSHIPS IS MARCH 1st

ADA – March 1, 2014 is the application deadline for scholarships that will be awarded for the fall of 2014 and spring of 2015 at East Central University. All applications should be sent to the Student Development Office. This includes incoming freshmen as well as continuing students who have previously received a university or foundation scholarship, or those students who have not received either, but would like to be considered for one. A current transcript must be attached to the application or it will not be reviewed.
