SUMMER OPERATION HOURS ANNOUNCED FOR ECU

Summer operational hours have been announced for East Central University, beginning Monday, June 6 and ending Friday, July 29.

Office hours will be from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m.-noon each Friday. Additionally, the campus will be closed on Friday, May 27, and Monday, May 30, for the Memorial Day holiday weekend and Friday, July 1 and Monday, July 4, for the Independence Day holiday weekend.

ECU STUDENT MOSLEY SELECTED AS 2016 RUSSIAN SCHOLAR LAUREATE

East Central University junior Elsa Colette Mosley was selected as a 2016 Russian Scholar Laureate, it was announced recently by the American Council of Teachers of Russian.

Mosley is political science and studio art major, with a Russian studies minor, from Sulphur.

She was nominated for the award by Dr. Mara Sukholutskaya, director of ECU’s Russian Studies and Global Education programs. Mosley is president of ECU’s Russian Club and was able to put her Russian language skills to work after going to St. Petersburg, Russia in May of 2015.

ECU’S DR. MARA SUKHOLUTSKAYA RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS RUSSIAN LANGUAGE TEACHING AWARD

East Central University’s Dr. Mara Sukholutskaya was awarded the prestigious “Excellence in the Teaching of Russian Language Award” at the recent Central Association of Russian Teachers of America (CARTA) Conference in Kansas City, Mo.

Sukholutskaya was accompanied by 12 of her students, who were there to experience the academic conference - many for the first time - and to celebrate her receiving of the award.

All area teachers and administrators are invited to experience one of the most innovative STEM teacher professional development events in Oklahoma at the new Pitsco Makerspace, housed in the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning in the Lanoy Education Building at East Central University.

RETIRING ECU EMPLOYEES RECOGNIZED FOR A COMBINED 600-PLUS YEARS OF SERVICE

Twenty-seven faculty and staff members have announced their retirement after investing over a combined 600 years of service to East Central University.

They were recognized at “An Evening of Employee Recognition” on April 26 in Foundation Hall of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center.

Four East Central University faculty members were recognized with Teaching Excellence Awards at “An Evening of Employee Recognition” on April 26 in the ECU Foundation Hall of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center. Pictured from left to right are: Dr. Phyllis Isaacs, department chair and associate professor of education; Dr. Kenneth Hada, professor of English and languages; Dr. Stacey Bolin, assistant professor and director of the Wilburn L. Smith Center for Entrepreneurship and Dr. Mary Harper, assistant professor of mathematics.

THREE ECU PHYSICAL PLANT EMPLOYEES HONORED

Three East Central University employees from its Physical Plant were honored with quarterly awards at “An Evening of Employee Recognition” on April 26 in ECU Foundation Hall of the Chickasaw Business and Conference Center. Pictured left to right are: Jeff Osborne, journeyman HVAC, for the third quarter of the year; Jane Erickson, custodian/assistant supervisor for the weekend setup crew, for the second quarter and Robert Martinez, custodian, for the first quarter. Erickson was also selected as ECU Physical Plant Employee of the Year.
