The 2012 Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, hosted by the East Central University Human Resources Club, will take place on Monday, Nov. 19, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pontotoc County Agriplex, located at 1710 N. Broadway in Ada.

The meal is free to everyone in the Ada community as turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, rolls and dessert will be served.

Over 2,880 people attended last year’s event, which is partnered with the Chickasaw Nation as well as realtors, banks, credit unions and car dealerships in Ada. The first community Thanksgiving dinner was held over 30 years ago in the Irving Center on Oak Street, but has since outgrown that facility.

Tammy Brown is in her second year as coordinator for the event and ECU student Carl Lewis is in his first year as a coordinator. Kat Holland will serve as kitchen coordinator while ECU professors Dr. Regina Robertson and Dr. Steven Roring will serve as advisors and leaders.

Coca-Cola will be providing the drinks while Chicken Express will provide the rolls.

The Chickasaw Honor Guard will present the colors. The event will honor the veterans of the community and t-shirts will be sold as well.

Transportation for anyone, within the city limits, is available by calling Chickasaw Nation Transportations at 1-800-492-2115 or 580-310-6453 by noon Wednesday, Nov. 14.

For more information or to volunteer call 580-559-5435.
