ADA, Okla. – East Central University student, Anthony Yellowfish, has been selected for the 2024 Brad Henry International Scholar Program, giving him the opportunity to travel abroad and spend a full semester studying in Wales.

The scholarship provides Oklahoma Regional University students a chance to study abroad at Swansea University in Wales, United Kingdom.

“It’s the only college in the world that’s on an oceanic coast,” Yellowfish stated as he discussed his excitement to explore the United Kingdom and surrounding countries, “London is one of those bucket-list places for me and I definitely want to go to Paris. If I get to, I want to go up to Scotland and see the castles.”

Yellowfish is a native of Ada. He is currently a junior at ECU, studying instrumental music with a minor in political science.

“I’m taking Poverty and Social Justice there and it’s an actual social rights advocate who teaches it.” said Yellowfish when asked about the classes he is most excited for. “It’s like, if you go to a cardiology class and you have an actual cardiologist whose been doing it for 45 years teaching you.”

Yellowfish will receive academic credit for his semester studying abroad. This will be his first time traveling outside of the United States. His travels began on the Jan. 20, classes begin Jan. 29 and conclude June 9.

The students selected for the Brad Henry Scholarship, valued at approximately $12,000, must have completed at least 30 credit hours and have excellent academic qualifications, outstanding writing and communication skills, exemplary character, and have demonstrated leadership qualities, maturity and judgement.
