April 7-13 has been proclaimed “Week of the Young Child” in Ada. The East Central University South Central Child Care Resource and Referral Agency (ECU SC-CCRRA) took part in the proclamation ceremony in front of Fentem Hall on campus. The week is an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children to spotlight early learning, young children, their teachers, families and communities. The proclamation was made by Dr. Guy Sewell, councilman for the City of Ada, to Pamla Armstrong, assistant director of the ECU SC-CCRRA. The proclamation stressed the importance of high-quality early childhood education, parental involvement in that education and the need for children to have developmentally appropriate, accessible and available early care and educational settings.
