A class on how to be in a band, start your own band or improve your band’s performance will begin Jan. 23 [MONDAY] at East Central University.

“This class will show you how to get a band going, keep it going and eventually get it out of the garage,” said instructor Dr. Rick Wetherill, who has been with three garage bands.

The class, part of ECU’s Community Education Program, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 23, Jan. 30 and Feb. 6. The cost is $40. An informal jam session will follow each class.

Wetherill said bands or individuals will learn the mechanics of the garage band, how it operates and how to make it profitable as well as fun. To enroll, call 580-559-5456 or register online at http://register.asapconnected.com//Courses.aspx?CourseGroupID=627
