Buffy Lovelis, a 2005 graduate of East Central University, has been named ECU's director of alumni relations.

She has worked in the University Advancement Office, which includes the Alumni Relations Office, since March 2007. She previously was the database manager and executive administrative assistant, managing the Blauckbaud Information System as well as daily office activities for University Advancement and Alumni Relations.

"In addition to her genuine love for ECU, Buffy knew all the functions of the Alumni Relations Office and was already well qualified to fill the director’s job," said Dr. Diane Berty, ECU vice president for student development and acting vice president for university advancement. "She often worked with the Alumni Board this last year and planned and carried out their activities, including the alumni Homecoming events."

Lovelis came to ECU from Cothran Development Strategies in Ada. She was the company's executive administrative assistant from November 2005 to April 2006 when she was promoted to vice president of fundraising/event coordination.

A 2000 graduate of Davis High School, Lovelis received a bachelor's degree in business administration/management from ECU in 2005 and expects to complete a master's degree in human resource administration at ECU in December.

She and her husband, Greg, won the Business Plan Competition in ECU's School of Business' entrepreneurship program in 2005. He holds both bachelor's and master's degrees from ECU and teaches science at McLish Middle School, part of the Stonewall School District.
