Dr. Ken Andrews was appointed dean of the College of Health Sciences at East Central University, it was recently announced.

Andrews, who joined the ECU faculty in 2000, had served as interim dean of the College of Health Sciences since July, 2018.

“Dr. Andrews has been active in promoting undergraduate research and has taught numerous times in the Honors Program,” said Dr. Carol Linder, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at ECU. “He has a successful track record of writing and receiving grants, has been engaged in the university’s efforts to improve retention and graduate rates and has been involved with college and departmental assessment efforts.”

At the campus level, Andrews has served on numerous standing institutional committees, including nine years on the program review committee, according to Linder.

Andrews has successfully achieved tenure and holds the rank of professor. He earned his Ph.D. in zoology from Michigan State University in 2000. He had earlier earned both a bachelor of science degree in zoology and a master of science in zoology from Southern Illinois University.
