“A Day of Hunger” will be recognized on the East Central University campus on Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the University Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Bracelets, which reflect the message “No Child Should Go Hungry”, will be sold for $2 each to benefit Homer School’s Backpack Program, which provides food for 30-40 children every weekend. The fundraising goal is $400.

This service learning project is being conducted by Dr. Christine Pappas’ American Government classes. Students will also be fasting on Nov. 20 to raise awareness for child hunger.

“My classes decided to plan a fast on the day before Thanksgiving break. Most of us will have nice meals to eat on Thanksgiving Day, but many people will not,” said Pappas.
