ADA, Okla. – East Central University has named Rita Palmer as the university’s new Director of Financial Aid.

“I’m excited,” Palmer said when asked about taking on the new role. “After spending the last 40 years of my life working with students, I just love working with them and helping them be successful.”

The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive financial aid program while ensuring regulatory compliance and providing strategic direction for the distribution of federal, state and institutional funds.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Rita Palmer into the ECU Family,” said Vice President of Enrollment Management, Dr. Denver Stickrod. “Her previous experience and knowledge of financial aid will fit right in with ECU’s commitment to excellence.”

Palmer is a graduate of Oklahoma State University who received her master’s degree from ECU in 1996.

After a lifelong career in education—including 18 years in the Meeker Public School system, several of which she served as superintendent, and the last 10 years at Southwestern Christian University—she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for education and students to ECU.
