East Central University is looking for artifacts, memorabilia and stories to commemorate its history as the university prepares to celebrate its centennial in 2009.

Examples of ECU artifacts and memorabilia include photographs of campus events, postcards, pennants, copies of early diplomas, event programs, scrapbooks, newspaper articles and books written by alumni and/or faculty.

Centennial events planners also hope to find memorabilia or stories related to the Horace Mann Training School, a 12-year public school formerly on the campus. The school gave college students preparing to become teachers experience in a standard school under the supervision of ECU faculty.

Donated or loaned items may be brought to the ECU Communications and Marketing Department on the third floor of Danley Hall. Danley Hall is the former library building.

Favorite memories can be emailed to singram@ecok.edu. Artifacts and stories may be used on ECU's website, in promotional print publications, in ECU's centennial quilt or placed on display.

ECU alums are encouraged to register with the Alumni Association at http://alumni.ecok.edu/in order to receive announcements about centennial events throughout the year. More information is available from Susan Ingram at 580-559-5664 or singram@ecok.edu.
