Brandan Rosa of Hugo, a junior majoring in mathematics at East Central University, won the third-place award in the Undergraduate Student Research Paper competition sponsored by the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo.
The competition involved more than 50 undergraduate student research papers from comprehensive and regional schools in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
Rosa has been working on undergraduate research in mathematics since the fall 2008 semester with his research faculty adviser, Dr. Robert Ferdinand, ECU associate professor of mathematics.
