Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity recently honored East Central University President John Hargrave as a 2014 Alumni Award winner.

Hargrave received the honor at the PIKE International Convention held July 31-Aug. 4, at Baltimore, Md. He was one of seven Pi Kappa Alpha alumni, from across the United States and Canada, honored at the convention with an award this year.

Hargrave has served as president of his alma mater since 2009 and graduated with honors from ECU in 1977, majoring in speech and sociology, before earning his law degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1980.

Prior to his arrival at ECU, Hargrave served as a managing partner of the Edmonds Cole Law Firm in which he helped establish in Oklahoma City in 1985.

Pi Kappa Alpha, which began in 1868 at the University of Virginia, has endured for nearly a century and a half and is considered the largest fraternal organization in the world. According to its website, Pi Kappa Alpha is dedicated to developing men of integrity, intellect, success and high moral character and fostering a truly lifelong fraternal experience.
