Dr. Allen Correll, band director at East Central University, is organizing and conducting a community band again this summer.
“We had a great response and a great time last summer,” Correll said. “Many of the former wind and percussion students in the Ada area came back to play in the summer band. We hope they will join us again, along with more adults and current high school or college band students.
“This is a chance to blow out the cobwebs in that old horn in the attic and relive those fun-filled days of school band rehearsal,” he added.
The community band will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays from May 16 through June 27, except for Memorial Day on May 30. Rehearsals will be in the Kennedy Band Hall in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
The season will end with a Tuesday night concert in the Ataloa Theater on June 28. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a watermelon feast at the gazebo east of the fine arts center.
